MCC in Southern Africa

MCC currently funds programmes and personnel in six southern African countries: Zambia, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Lesotho, Swaziland and South Africa. In the past we have also had significant involvement in Malawi, Angola and Botswana.

Our overall regional budget stands at around US$2,000,000 plus CFGB funded food security projects and major emergency response situations as they arise.  Personnel include 44 adults and 12 children.

Last December an MCC delegation was invited to Malawi to discuss the possibility of re-engagement. To date we have responded by offering peace training for leadership at the Africa Peace Institute in Kitwe, Zambia and participating in an emergency food response with the Brethren in Christ church - part of our Anabaptist community of faith. Most of that took place in and around Blantyre.
