MCC Southern Africa Regional Retreat

On December 13-18 approx 80 Mennonite Central Committee and Mennonite Mission Network women, men, and children gathered at the Good News Convention Centre in Honeydew, (west Johannesburg) for a biennial retreat. Retreat agenda included: worship and prayer; resourcing in the person of Al Dueck, (Professor of Psychology and Chair of a program that integrates psychology and theology at Fuller Theological Seminary); and workshops & seminars to stimulate discussion and reflection. Afternoon agenda allowed space to explore the megapolis that is Johannesburg, do some sight seeing, relax, visit, and connect with each other. It was a great opportunity to be enriched physically and spiritually and to resource each other in our work. The input sessions focused on the dynamic of living and working cross-culturally. MCC Southern Africa not only works in many cultural settings its volunteers and staff consist of people from Benin, Brazil, Burundi, Canada, Congo (DRC), Mozambique, Swaziland, United States, and Zimbabwe.
