Return to southern Africa

For the past 12 years Lois and I have lived in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. In a few months we will be returning to a land we have learned to love - southern Africa. We have accepted a position with MCC as Associate Director of Southern Africa. This region and its political, social and economic realities is not new to us.

In 1978-81 we lived and worked in Lesotho as High School teacher and Nurse. From 1985-89 we were MCC Country Co-Representatives for Swaziland and Mozambique. Since then we have had a number of opportunities to return - in 2003 to attend the Mennonite World Conference in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe and in 2007 to participate in MCC Country Programme reviews for Zimbabwe and Mozambique.

For us this will be a journey of renewal, exploration, and hope. Renewal in re-establishing old connections and friendships; exploration in that this is a new position for MCC and a dynamic and everchanging part of the world; and hope in the continuing growth towards a fully democratic multi-cultural and multi-ethnic society that is a beacon to the world.

Our task will be to give leadership and oversight to MCC workers and programming in Zambia, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, South Africa, Lesotho and Swaziland.
