Waskesiu

Waskesiu has been the favourite northern vacation spot for the Regier family from time immemorial! On an annual basis Lois and her immediate and/or extended family make the trek to this resort town on the shores of Waskesiu Lake (located in Prince Albert National Park).  We were privileged to spend a long weekend here recently with our children. It was a time of rest, renewal and relaxation.

Without question a daily pilgrimage to the local bakery for freshly baked cinnamon buns and fresh coffee is a highlight of each morning. The brisk and unpolluted northern air - scented with spruce and pine from the boreal forest is revitalizing and makes one breathe deeply.

Later on, after a hefty breakfast of bacon, eggs, mushrooms and toast, a brisk walk is in order. We follow the contours of the lake or head into the cool forest or walk along the burbling streams that flow from the lake.

Since this was a favourite spot of Lois' father the family has purchased and placed a memorial bench on the lake shore near the children's playground. In this picture three generations are sitting on the bench.
